Just over 800 charges were laid in total by the Ontario Provincial Police in northwestern Ontario over the Easter long weekend.
The OPP was running a province-wide seatbelt safety campaign that led to 58 seatbelt charges and hundreds of additional driving offenses.
That included 718 for speeding, 5 for distracted driving, 4 for stunt driving and 16 impaired driving charges.
Drivers who were caught without a seatbelt lost 2 demerit points and were fined up $1,000 while passengers who are also required to wear seatbelts were also fined.
