Hot weather brings more forest fires

The Ministry of Natural Resources is reporting several new forest fires in northwestern Ontario.

Six were confirmed on Tuesday, bringing to 16, the number of active wildfires

Most posing no problems and are being observed.

Three are in the Red Lake fire district, two in the Sioux Lookout region and one near Thunder Bay, a small island fire on Loch Lomond.

Most of the fires are not posing any threat to property or people and are simply being monitored.

The largest forest fire is a 100-hectare fire burning near Little Gorman Lake, about 20 kilometres east of the Ontario-Manitoba Border.
