The Dryden OPP says their clearance rates for property and violent crime remains high.

Staff Sergent Mitch Davis says their rates are above what other detachments in Ontario are seeing.

“We’re well ahead of the provincial average for clearance rates for property crime,” Davis reported to Dryden city council recently.

“The provincial clearance rate, the average is 19 percent and we’re at 45 percent for our clearance rates.  For violent crime, we’re at 81 percent and the provincial clearance rate is 73 percent.”

Davis points out the Tuesdays and Wednesdays had the highest property crime rate, while Sunday was the quietest day for the OPP.

In terms of drug arrests, the Dryden OPP say they have been successful this year.

Detective Sergent Jared Olson from the Street Crimes Unit says officers have seized a variety of drugs since the start of July.

“435 grams of cocaine, 185 grams of crack cocaine, 340 grams of methamphetamine, 25 grams of fentanyl, 600 hydromorphone tablets, 80 oxycontin tablets and seized over $28,000 in cash.”

Olson says they were able to conclude 14 drug investigations in the last four months

In the process, they arrested 26 people and charged them with 34 offenses under Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and issued 62 charges under the Criminal Code.
