NOHFC doles out $2.5 million to 7 local projects

A flurry of provincial funding announcements before the writ was dropped for the election.

In the Kenora area, $2.5 million has been promised to seven organizations along with 15 internships.

$500,000 will be going to the Kenora Chiefs Advisory to renovate one of the existing buildings at the Family and Wellness Camp on Strecker Road into a welcome center and an art studio.

A half a million dollars is also going to the Kenora Golf and Country Club to make accessibility improvements to its clubhouse, pave golf cart paths and build a maintenance shed

Other funding recipients from the Northern Ontario Fund Corporation are Grand Council Treaty #3 for their Bug Lake Healing Camp, the Town of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls to relocate and expand their library and the Pellatt Unit Fire Department for renovations at the fire hall and community center.
