Kenora ready to embark on key projects thanks to provincial funding

The City of Kenora says it will be able to complete three different projects with funding from the province.

The city has received almost $6 million through the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Stream, under the Province of Ontario’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program.

Part of the funding will be used for the rehabilitation and paving of Lakeview Drive.

That work won’t begin through until 2026 so design work on the project can be completed and tendered out.

The money will also be used for corrosion protection and the structural rehabilitation of the Keewatin Channel Bridge.

That project will cost in excess of $4.3 million dollars.

The other project is for safety improvements at the intersection of Parson Street and Minnesota Street at Lakeview Drive.

Mayor Andrew Poirier says the funding will enhance traffic flow, promote active transportation, and help renew the city’s aging infrastructure.
