The City of Kenora has formally adopted the Community Safety and Well-being plan.
The document is required by the provincial government.
But councillor Bob Bernie says it provides a road map for the city for at least the next 10 years.
“My vision was for Kenora to come out of the dark ages as far as our Community Safety and Wellbeing approach,” Bernie explained at the open council meeting this week.
“And to put into simple terms, we’re getting out of that reactive approach, into a proactive approach, and we’re really going to make a difference.”
Councillor Lindsay Koch says the plan is useful because it has several different targets.
“Recognize the short-and long-term goals and objectives of this report. It not an overnight plan. It’s not an overnight solution…it’s not a 3-day plan. It is long-term with short and long- and medium-term goals and objectives and wins.”
The plan includes seven priority areas, 15 recommendations and 48 actions.
