City of Kenora to continue water monitoring on Black Sturgeon

By Tim Davidson Apr 22, 2025 | 2:33 PM

The City of Kenora will work once against this year with Grand Council Treaty #3 on water quality testing on Black Sturgeon Lake.

The Territorial Planning Unit will be testing the water in the spring and the fall on Black Sturgeon and neighboring First Nations.

Results from it’s field work last year confirmed phosphorus levels remained below provincial guidelines.

It means there hasn’t been any significant impacts on the lake’s water quality due to development activities.

The city has been testing the quality of the water in Black Sturgeon for the past 15 years.
