Organizers of special events in the City of Kenora can apply for grants of up to $5,000.
The funding comes from the Municipal Accommodation Tax.
Stace Gander is the Director of Economic Development and Tourism and says the event must take place between June 1st of this year and May 31st of next year.
“We would have a scoring matrix, just like we did last year, and we would try to incent programs that would be shoulder season type of activities, just to stimulate four season type stuff,” Gander explained to council recently.
“But if there was something that was good, and met the criteria, then certainly it would be considered for some financial support though this process. And this would be run through the Tourism department.”
The city is making $45,000 available for this program.
