The Meno-Ya-Win Health Center in Sioux Lookout is one step closer to getting an MRI.

The contract for the MRI was awarded to GE Healthcare, and the building for the MRI suite has been awarded to SDI Canada.

The MRI is called a Signa Voyageur.

“This new MRI unit is crucial for ensuring proactive and timely health care services. This needed service helps us to further close health equity gaps for our patients, and it will reduce wait times as patients look to access MRI scans,” says Dean Osmond, SLMHC President and CEO.

The MRI suite itself will be about 1,650 square feet and will be located adjacent to the Ambulatory Care entrance and will be connected to the hospital.

Construction on the suite is expected to begin in July with the first MRI scans in August of 2026.
