Treaty Three Police arrest axe-wielding suspect

The Treaty Three Police say they were able to arrest a suspect on the Naicatchewenin First Nation without sustaining any injuries to the public or their officers.

The incident started on Monday when police received a number of reports of a man armed with an axe in the community.

There were reports were received earlier in the day, but police were unable to locate him.

Around 7:30 pm, police say the situation escalated, when they received reported of the suspect threatening individuals with the axe.

Eventually, the situation was brought under control, and the man was arrested.

The Treaty Three Police say a 44-year-old man has been charged with four counts of assault, resisting a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.
