Noel continues to attend council meetings

The unusual stand-off at Dryden city council between councillor Ritch Noel and the rest of council continues.

Noel continues to attend council meetings in person, despite being asked to leave.

Dryden city council passed a resolution last month to bar Noel from attending council meetings in person, because they say he violated the HR’s harassment policy.

Councillor Bryan Tardiff questions Noel’s motives to attend the meetings.

“I just want to ask what his logic is behind his attendance here,” Tardiff asked council at the beginning of its meeting Monday night.

“He claims to be not able to represent the people who elected him, when he could fully represent them, if he went downstairs, or stay home on his iPad, like anybody else when they can’t attend.”

But Noel is adamant he’s not going to be removed from the council meetings.

“I will most certainly not comply.  It’s a breach of my constitutional rights.  I will continue to come here, and I will continue to make this as challenging as possible.”

As per council resolution, Noel is not able to provide any input at the council meetings, while still attending in person.
