The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s December 50/50 draw is its biggest guaranteed draw ever.

According to the foundation, the guaranteed $2.5 million prize is the biggest in Canadian History.

“Last year, the guaranteed Grand Prize was $2 million,” said the foundation’s CEO, Glenn Craig. “This year, we’re raising the stakes even further, offering a $2.5 million minimum guarantee and more than doubling the Early Bird prizes. We’re also introducing a host of exciting new elements that will make this month-long experience unlike anything our buyers have seen before.”

December’s 50/50 features $250,000 in early bird prizes including a $50,000 holiday bonus draw on December 31.

This month’s event will last five weeks, and the grand prize draw will take place on January 3.

“Thanks to a portion of the proceeds from the past two December 50/50 draws, we are now closer than ever to seeing renovations begin to the triage area of our Emergency Department,” says the Chief of Emergency and Trauma Services at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Kyle Lansdell. “I’m happy to share that construction is currently scheduled to begin in 2025. This project will greatly improve patient care, flow, and the overall experience for everyone who walks through our doors.”

Tickets for the December Draw open on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Proceeds from this month’s draw support vital equipment purchases at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
