The City of Dryden says it’s not going to annex the unincorporated areas surrounding the city.

In a open letter, Mayor Jack Harrison says he is responding to concerns about recent comments he’s made.

He has been asking the province that the Townships Without Municipal Organization pay for things like long term care.

He is not asking for increased taxes, but suggests the province shares what they currently collect from from the Provincial Land Tax.

Harrison adds that the city currently subsidizes things like the library and the pool, fitness center and arena to the tune of 1.8 million dollars and is asking that the unincorporated areas support their services.
