Anne Therese Kostantin
September 22, 1927-March 31, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt, Anne Therese Kostantin on March 31, 2025.
Anne was born on September 22, 1927 in Port Arthur, Ontario to Daniel and Martha Pedwysocki. Anne also had a younger brother, Michael, with whom she shared a very special bond.
Anne’s father, Daniel, was a section foreman with the railway so the family moved several times living in Marathon and along the line before settling in Port Arthur, Ontario.
Anne married her best friend Walter Kostantin on July 4, 1970. She and Walt expanded their family with their greatest gift, son Bruce, born September 25, 1971.
From a very young age Anne dreamed of becoming a teacher. After public school, she attended high school at Port Arthur Collegiate Institute. She then went on to teachers college where she graduated and embraced a fulfilling teaching career. Her teacher career covered many locations throughout Ontario, retiring after 34 years at her final placement as an outstanding Home Economics teacher at Saint Thomas Aquinas School in Kenora Ontario. She loved her students and formed special bonds with them. Many of which continue to this day.
Anne was a proud member of the Retired Teachers of Ontario and the Catholic Women’s League. Here too she formed lifelong friendships which meant a great deal to her. She was also a proud, devoted member of the Notre Dame du Portage Church. She spent many hours attending masses, prayer meetings and volunteering at church events.
Anne’s family and friends were very special to her. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining family, friends and Walt’s business associates. She loved to sew and spent many late nights at her sewing machine completing her current projects.
Anne is survived by her cherished grandchildren Andrea and Nicholas Kostantin, Dalton and daughter-in-law Denise Wesley. Also left to mourn her loss are her Thunder Bay family sister-in-law Sylvia Pedwysocki, nieces and nephews Mary Ann Vic, Michael (Sharon) Pedwysocki, Brenda (Sal) Carchidi, Daniel (Diane) Pedwysocki, great nieces and nephews Christopher Vic, son Gage, and Ashley Vic, Steven and Andrew (Darquise) Pedwysocki, Sal Carchidi Jr., children Emilie, Hunter and Will and Michael (Stacy) Carchidi and daughter Isabella. Anne also loved and was loved by nieces and nephews from her extended Kostantin family in British Columbia and Thunder Bay.
Anne is predeceased by her parents Daniel and Martha Pedwysocki, her brother Michael, her loving husband Walter Kostantin and her most beloved son Bruce.
