Ignace town council has made a significant hire.

Lesley Sterling has been announced as the town’s new clear/treasurer.

Council unanimously approved the hiring at it’s open meeting Monday night.

Sterling says she’s ready for the challenge.

““I’m originally from a small town, and after visiting Ignace and meeting the municipal team, I felt like I had found home,” says Sterling in a news release.

“Everyone I’ve met around town has been so welcoming, and my family and I are looking forward to making Ignace our future long-term home.  I’m excited to get to know everyone and to help support the new projects that will continue to make Ignace a great place to live and work.”

Sterling is a real estate agent and worked in North Battleford, Saskatchewan as the general manager of the Northwest Community Futures Corporation.

In her new job, she’ll report to the township’s CAO Aaron Gullins.
