The Lake of the Woods Hospital Foundation’s Beyond the Scan campaign raised one million dollars more than the $8.5 million goal.
The final tally was just over $9.522 million.
Mira Trebilcock is executive director says the support from the community was huge.
“We were definitely expecting the level of support, but the timeliness of which it came in and the community that rallied as quickly as they did was tremendous,” enthused Trebilcock.
“It is something I’m tremendously grateful for and surprised by. It gives me such hope in the power and strength in the community of Kenora.”
The campaign started in the middle of February and wrapped up at the end of April.
Trebilcock says a 2 for 1 donation campaign definitely helped them exceed their goal.
“The matched gift from the FDC Foundation really leveraged the support and rallied people to participate support more quickly and to a bigger level than they ever had before. I think the project too, just knowing we would have an MRI locally soon is huge and a Diagnostic Center of Excellence.”
The extra one million will go towards is going towards the Hospital Foundations $3.5-million Excellence Fund.
