The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation has another major piece of equipment on its wish list.
The hospital’s central monitoring system is on its last legs.
Foundation executive director Mira Trebilcock says thanks to the success of their Beyond the Scan campaign, they have the money available to buy the new equipment.
“So, we were able to get the pieces to fix the one we have, but the one we have is at the end-of-life,” explains Trebilcock.
“So, now with the funding available we can go out and seek and purchase it immediately and have it in the next couple of months, which is huge.”
“The biggest project that recently has come up is our central monitoring system went down. Anyone who has cardiac monitoring would be hooked up to that. So, it’s central to our ICU staying open. So, now this has allowed the hospital to go out to RFP and get a new central monitoring system immediately.”
Trebilcock says a new central monitoring system will cost in the range of $700,000 to a million dollars.
The Hospital Foundation generated about a million dollars more than projected in the Beyond the Scan campaign, and that money is being put towards an Excellence Fund.
