One person has died and three others were injured after a rockslide near Bow Glacier Falls in Banff National Park.
Parks Canada says the slide happened around 1 p.m. Thursday, about 37 kilometres north of Lake Louise. Emergency crews from Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, and STARS Air Ambulance responded.
Two of the injured were flown out by air ambulance, and another was taken by ground. Their conditions have not been released.
A search for other possible victims was suspended at nightfall and is expected to resume Friday. Drone teams, dog handlers, and geotechnical experts are involved in the operation.
Bow Lake and the surrounding day-use area are now closed. Visitors at the nearby Bow Hut are safe and will be able to leave as planned.
The Icefields Parkway remains open but may see temporary traffic delays.
Anyone who believes a loved one may be missing in the area is asked to call Parks Canada’s Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470.
Parks Canada and RCMP say their thoughts are with the families of those involved.
