The Kenora Catholic District School Board is projecting a slight increase enrollment next year.
An extra 14 students are expected.
Superintendent of Business Alison Smith says they try to be cautious with their enrollment projections.
“So, we do a projected enrollment…we actually project quite conservatively just so we don’t get caught on the wrong side,” explains Smith.
“Our projected enrollment is based on actual enrollment numbers that we have received to date.”
Smith adds the enrollment figures are important, because their grants from the provincial government are based on those numbers.
“We do include a few projections here and there throughout the different schools and different grades, just based on past year trends.”
At year end, the KCDSB has 1,250 students and that is expected to increase to 1,264 by September.
The projects include St. John School in Red Lake as well as the four schools in Kenora.
