Kenora-area groups receive record $505K in community grants

A number of organizations in Kenora and the surrounding area are starting the week with a financial boost, thanks to the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation.

This year, 38 organizations received a total of $505,644 in funding — a record amount in the foundation’s 20-year history, according to executive director Lynn McAughey.

Andrew B. Paterson was on hand to present several of the grants supported by the Paterson Family Grants.

  • Jubilee Church of God – $15,000
  • WHNAC for Nutrition – $25,000

Moffat Family Fund and Dream Fund Grants – $126,575

  • Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch – $6,000
  • Firefly Minto EarlyON Centre – $20,000
  • Keewatin Patricia District School Board – $11,000
  • Kenora District New Horizons Centre – $17,000
  • Kenora Public Library – $5,500
  • Lake of the Woods District Hospital – $5,000

The grants were presented during a ceremony held Friday night at the Clarion Lakeside Inn.
