Another Mastromatteo is looking to make his mark in the pool.

Tazio Mastromatteo has been selected to be a part of Team Ontario at the Canada Summer Games next month in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

He’s a member of the Kenora Sharks Swim Club and qualified at the 2025 Canadian swimming trials.

Mastromatteo will compete in the 50- and 100-meter breaststroke and 4X100 meter relay.

Janet Hyslop is his mother and coach and is proud of his selection.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Tazio,” says Hyslop.

“The Canada Games serve as a steppingstone to major international competitions, including the Pan American Games and the Olympic Games. We’re excited to watch him compete on this national stage.”

The Canada Summer Games will be held from August 10th to 15th.

His older brother Gabe competed for Canada at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, while his sister Emilia swims for McGill University.
