A Canadian cheese company has had a product recalled by the federal government for potential listeria contamination.

Natural Pastures Cheese Company’s Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese was recalled on Monday.

This recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with someone eating this product.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled, but it can still make you sick.

Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

The recall is listed as Class One, meaning there is a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

The agency is also verifying that stores are removing the product from shelves.
