Harry M. Smith
October 9, 1933-July 14, 2025

With family by his side, it is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, father in law, grandfather & great grandfather Harry Smith on July 14, 2025 at the age of 91.

Harry is loved and remembered by his son Bob & wife Lainie, grandchildren Raegan (Jon), Samantha (Brayden), Brock (Telayna), Darbey (Cody) & Gavin (Sarah), great grand daughter Georgia, his sisters Gwen (Ted) & Elenor and brother Keith (Joan), along with numerous nieces & nephews. Harry was predeceased by his loving wife Theresa of 59 years, his children Angela, Ronald & Carl, his parents Thomas & Bertha and sisters Dorothy & Joyce.

Harry was born in Clavering, Ontario into a farming family where he grew up learning to work hard from an early age. At the age of 16, he and a friend hitch hiked across Canada, making a stop in Kenora on his returning. Here, he met the love of his life Theresa, to whom he married and settled down with to raise their family.

Harry built and opened his own body shop, Smitty’s Auto Body in 1968, where he successfully ran his business for 22 years. Harry was in his happy places when he was flying his plane out to camp & fly in lakes, often with the family dogs Max or Chainsaw as his co-pilot, out in the boat fishing and hunting every fall. Harry would spend hours in his big garden & was always sharing whatever it produced. One of Harry’s favourite pass times were watching his son and grandchildren playing in all of their various sports, very rarely missing a hockey game that any of them ever played.

Well loved and very well known, Harry always had a smile on his face, a story to share and without fail, had a funny joke to tell. Harry was a people person, his door was always open to chat over a cup of coffee. He loved spending time with the many friends and family that came to visit at the house on Johnson landing road. He will be missed by many.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Pinecrest Home for the Aged for their continued compassionate care for Harry during the time he resided there.

In accordance to Harry’s wishes, there will be no memorial or funeral service at this time.
