Marilyn Ann Conway (Novak, nee Strain)
July 23rd, 1942 – January 3rd, 2024
With her sons at her side, Marilyn Conway, passed away peacefully at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario, on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jim Conway; mother Myra Strain; and father Peter Strain.
She is survived and greatly missed by her sons, Trevor Novak (Lori Woloshyn), and Stephen Novak (Jana Lasso); sister Pat Wendelborg (Rodger); brother William Strain (Myrna); grandchildren, Adriana Novak (Zach Reykdal), Michaela Novak, Aimee Novak, Cayden Novak, Rylen Novak, and Jaycie Holmstrom; her new great-granddaughter, Francesca Reykdal; and many relatives and dear friends.
Raised in Pathlow, Saskatchewan, Marilyn had a passion for helping others. In Kenora, she embarked on a rewarding career as a nurse and worked at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on 3E in the 1970s and 80s. She was a compassionate and dedicated nurse, treating each patient with dignity and kindness, and providing emotional support to the family. She led her personal life with the same mantra; compassion, kindness, and dedication to her family and many friends.
Marilyn lived her life with optimism, passion, adventure and elegance touching everyone around her. She loved traveling, sailing, curling, golfing, gardening, playing cards, volunteering, and most of all entertaining and laughing with family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the personal care workers and staff at Benidickson Court, and staff on 3E at the Lake of Woods District Hospital for their compassion and care during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will take place in July, 2024.
