It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Delaney Sharpe (East Feather Woman).
She leaves to mourn her son Kelsey Joseph, her siblings, Barbara Skead/Cochrane (Larry), Lynda McDonald, Sandy Pahpasay, Dorothy Pahpasay (Daniel Monkman), Ervin Pahpasay, Karen Pahpasay and her grandchildren Kyra, Kendra, Kayla, Veda, Korelle, Kaleigh, Giselle, Keri-Lynn, Khloe, Angel, Mya, Veda, and Geronimo. Her nephews and nieces that she was close to, Jeremy, Lyle, Lori, Stella, Charlene and grand nephews and nieces Cheyenne, Raven, Chris and great grand nephew, Cairus Mason Roy Ogemah. She also leaves to mourn her best friend, Heather Bedard and Nadia McLaren, where she participated in “Muffins for Granny”. She also leaves to mourn many nephews and nieces and great grandnephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Alexander Pahpasay and Charlotte Nabishop and her parents Marcel and Rosie Pahpasay, her son, Leonard Joseph Jr. her son and daughters, Giselle, Sandra and Lil White Owl. Her siblings, Marcel Pahpasay Jr., Roy Pahpasay, Darlene Pahpasay, Paul Pahpasay, Clark Pahpasay and Keith Pahpasay and nephew Richard Lee McDonald, and adopted brother Danny Strong.
Delaney was a person who inspired others to participate in Residential School Walks across Canada in 2004, she was determined to make awareness in the abduction of indigenous children from families in many communities. She walked day and night and made many friends across the country, her siblings participated in accompanying her in her journey. Her fearless determination inspired others to make awareness about Residential Schools and Mercury pollution in Grassy Narrows.
She loved her culture and spirituality and participated in pow-wow’s in many communities and events that promoted indigenous activities and she inspired her family to enjoy their culture and participate in cultural activities. She was loved immensely by her sisters and family. She was an avid artist and enjoyed painting. Her sisters will miss her laughter and her stories about her adventures.
Her wake will commence on January 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Trappers building at Grassy Narrows. The traditional ceremony will commence on January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am.
The pallbearers will be Dana Pahpasay, Alex Pahpasay, Joseph Paul, Kyle Cochrane, Chris Cochrane, and Justin Cochrane.
