Paul Stanley Duggan
January 22, 1949 – February 4, 2023
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected sudden passing of our beloved father, Paul Stanley Duggan, on February 4, 2024, just four months after the passing of his cherished wife, Donna.
Paul was born on January 22, 1949, in Kenora Ontario to parents Mary-Leonne and Gerald Duggan. He lived a life filled with love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. Paul is survived by his siblings Gregory (Patricia), Jo-Ann (Grey Nun), Mark (Donna), and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Lakeside and spending summers at Duggan’s Den on Longbow Lake, Paul loved to be outdoors, cherishing time with family and friends.
Paul and Donna shared an incredible 49-year marriage raising 3 children: Patrick (Ann, Alison & James), Laurie (Randy, Huxley) and Jennifer (Michal).
He was a dedicated teacher and principal at the Kenora Catholic District School Board for decades. Beyond the classroom, Paul committed himself to the early development of the school’s athletic program and the expansion to the existing Thomas Aquinas High School facility.
Paul was an active and committed member of the community throughout his life he volunteered at Mount Evergreen Ski Club; Managed the Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club and worked during his retirement as the returning officer for Elections Ontario and Canada.
Paul coached his children leading them onto championships in various sports. If he wasn’t coaching, he was on the sidelines cheering them on. Paul was an avid golfer, cross country skier, and passionate curler sharing his love for sport with everyone.
As a devoted husband and father, he had an unwavering commitment as he approached life with a gentle spirit; his warm smile could brighten even the darkest days. His legacy is one of sincere love, and the importance of family bonds.
In addition to his family, Paul leaves behind a network of friends and acquaintances who will hold him forever close in their hearts. The void left by the passing of both Paul and Donna will be deeply felt, but their enduring love will serve as a source of strength for friends and family.
Memorial Service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2:00pm with Father Alan Campeau officiating. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at https://fweb.tv/117643
