Bertha (Bert) Morton
March 27, 1925 – May 27, 2024

Bertha, beloved mom, grandma and great grandma, passed away peacefully in her home on May 27th, 2024 with her family at her side.

Bertha was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Morton in 2006, her brother Ross and her parents Ford and Dorothy Richardson.

Mom was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario, moving to Kenora in her high school years. After attending Nursing School in Brandon, mom returned to Kenora and in 1946 married Bob Morton. They shared sixty years together in their beloved Kenora, making many life-long friends.

Mom’s early married years were spent in Lakeside raising her two kids before going back to work nursing at the Kenora hospital.

Mom and Dad both loved the water. In 1967, they moved from Lakeside to the Winnipeg River, then on to Rabbit Lake, and from there to Laurenson’s Lake. After Dad passed away, mom moved to an apartment in Benedickson where she spent the last 10 years enjoying life, renewing old friendships and making many new ones.

Mom was well known in many circles in Kenora, having been involved in golfing, curling, swimming, quilting. She was a true foodie and loved to cook and entertain. Mom also loved the outdoors and spent many years snowmobiling, boating, fishing and camping with Bob and friends.

Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her daughter Leigh (Chuck Archambault) of Winnipeg, her son John (Bonnie) of Guelph, Bertha’s three grandchildren Jodie (Allen Lofts), John (Ruth) and David (Carla) and six great grandchildren.

The family are grateful for the loving-kindness shown to mom over the years by Sarah and her team of caregivers at Benedickson Court and to Mike and the Palliative Care Team for the kindness and compassion shown to mom in her final days.

At Mom’s request, there will be no service and cremation has taken place. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Bertha’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
