Another special event this weekend.
The Kenora Chiefs Advisory (Ogimaawabiitong) is hosting the Healing Your Spirit Pow Wow.
Karen Foster is helping to organize it and says it will be held on Pow Wow Island starting Friday night and running until Sunday.
“Pow wows are more than just gatherings, they are celebrations of First Nations culture, our communities and our resilience,” states Foster.
“It’s a chance to not only bring out First Nations people, but anybody who wants to come out and take in our pow wow.”
She adds there’s a reason behind hold the Healing Your Spirit pow wow for a 5th year.
“So, the Pow Wow is to bring our people together, you know, sharing stories, sharing our knowledge. Also, the dancing, it’s very healing.”
Foster says they will also be recognizing survivors of the residential school system on Saturday during the Pow Wow.
