The Kenora Catholic District School Board has seen a number of changes as they head into their next term through 2026.

The board’s new trustees were officially sworn-in during Kenora Catholic’s inaugural meeting on Tuesday, before members held elections to determine their Chair and Vice-Chair.

Teresa Gallik was acclaimed into her position as the Chair, while Paul Landry was acclaimed as Vice-Chair. Gallik’s been with the board since 2003 while Landry’s been serving since 1985.

The two are joined by returning Indigenous Trustee Jeffrey White. New Trustees include Marie Lundin, Lorne Temple and Derek Favreau from Kenora, as well as Angela Bishop representing Red Lake. Each trustee was acclaimed through October’s municipal election.

“I am humbled and honoured to once again be entrusted with the previous gift of Catholic education. Thank you for this,” said Gallik. “I look forward to working collaboratively with our director Nicole Kurtz and staff to further strengthen Catholic education – focusing on student well-being, achievement and success.”

Gallik is entering her fifth term as Chair, and Landry has been serving as Vice Chair since 2019 – but he’s served a variety of roles throughout his tenure. The board also has three student trustees to represent students.
