By Ryan Forbes Mar 23, 2023 | 5:00 AM

The Ministry of the Attorney General and the Crown are working on 28-year-old Timothy Kent’s release orders and some of his charges have been dropped, as his court case continues in Kenora.

Kent is the accused involved in an ‘aggravated assault with a weapon’ which took place on Second Street South on Sunday night and he attended court virtually from the Kenora District Jail yesterday morning.

During his proceedings, the Ministry withdrew two charges of Assault with a Weapon dating back to November of 2021 at the Crown’s Request, and Kent is now facing charges of:

– Aggravated Assault (two counts)
– Failure to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

These charges have not been proven in court.

The Ministry adds they are working with community service providers and the Crown to create suitable release conditions for the accused, which will need to be approved before taking effect.

Kent’s court case is scheduled to continue in Bail Court today at 10 a.m.

The area around the Second Street South and Chipman Street intersection was blocked off by police shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday night after an assault where one person was found with life-threatening injuries.

The OPP says the victim is expected to recover and be released from the hospital soon.

Police add their investigation is continuing with the assistance of their Crime Unit and anyone with more information is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
