City of Kenora says the Keewatin Beach and the Rotary Splash Park will be open starting this weekend.
The Splash Park actually open today (Friday) with a new shade structure and themed garbage cans.
A number of improvements have also been made at Keewatin Beach after the high water last year.
That includes repairing the retaining wall, new dock ends and general beach clean-up.
A number of upgrades are also planned at the beach this summer.
That includes,
- two floating platforms added to the existing dock at the east end of the beach;
- a new L-shaped dock added at the west end of the beach;
- improvements for access to the park;
- updates to the existing picnic shelter;
- additional sunshade, benches, tables and trees.
The City plans to have the majority of the works performed late in the summer to minimize the impact on the park and beach area.
Minor upgrades may take place throughout the summer during lower traffic periods.
