The Kenora Chiefs Advisory says it has used funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to hire two people at the Youth and Family Wellness Camp and a new vehicle.
Recreational services manager out at the camp Jennifer Coulis says they are using the Ford Escape to transport kids to their camp on the Strecker Road.
“I think that’s one of the biggest barriers, is the transportation piece,” explains Coulis.
“So being able to get to them and to bring them where we can help is really necessary. We can travel to all of our member communities that KCA works with, and we’ll bring them to the Youth and Family Wellness Camp and provide activities there and cultural healing.”
KCA has received a one year grant for $150,000 under the Resilient Communities Fund.
