The expansion Devil’s Gap Kenora Islanders make their debut tonight in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

Team president Tim Gosnell says they are looking forward to hitting the ice tonight.

“It’s going to be very exciting to finally see them on the ice for our home opener in a regular league game,” says Gosnell.

“It’s been a long journey and we’re ecstatic.  We have a few open ceremonies.”

Gosnell points out they have managed to overcome a number of hurdles to get to this point.

“It was a bit of difficult one.  We had some challenges getting ice, which was a biggest challenge, but we’ve worked through it and here we are!”

The Wisconsin Lumberjacks provide the competition with games tonight and tomorrow night at the Moncrief Construction Sports Center at 7:30.
