Lila Cecilia Henry-Hager
from: Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation August 27, 1947-December 8, 2023, age: 76

Your golden heart stopped beating,
God saw that you were tired, and a cure was not meant to be.
So, He put His loving arms around you and whispered, “come with Me.”

Lila leaves to mourn her sister Karen Bluebird and family, cousin John Henry (Debora) and family, Vivian Ketchum, Pauline Prince, James Prince, Matthew Ketchum, and numerous, nieces, nephews, and friends she met at Wiigwas Elders and Seniors Care.

She did not get to meet all her relatives because she was in and out of hospitals having all kinds of surgeries at the Indian Hospital and in the Toronto area.

She often asked about cousin John Henry, her niece Sharon Pahpasay and her nephews Robert Bluebird, and Sherman Chad Kabestra, grandchildren that she met Lacey and Alexi Kabestra, Lightning Keewatin and Brogan Bluebird.

Lila had a warm heart, a generous spirit, and a heart of gold. She helped friends and strangers by opening her home to people.

Lila enjoyed writing out the whole Bible repeatedly. She even wrote out all her favorite recipes. She would wear a cross and baby Jesus on her wrist. She said she cleans and kisses the cross and then she cleans and kisses baby Jesus and this is the way she prayed in the morning and evening every day. One of her pass times is doing word puzzles and playing cards, she knew how to keep herself busy. My sister was a tough lady right to the end. I am going to miss my sister’s voice saying “I love you too sis. She was my oldest sister. I am going to miss her laugh and her funniness. She also enjoyed perming her hair always styling her own hair. I will miss my kind-hearted sister and seeing how she loved and cared for her family and friends that she met and remembered. She would tell me how much she missed her husband, Charlie.

Lila is predeceased by her sister, Delores Bluebird her nieces Priscilla Bluebird, Sasha Henry, and her nephew Chippewa Bluebird, Elvis Bluebird, Levi Fox, cousin Andrew Ketchum, Barbie Prince, Moses Henry, Nancy Henry, Elizabeth Henry.
Our mom Mary Jane Bluebird’s (Henry) siblings: Frank, Maggie Louise, John, Alice, Alfred Joe, May, George, and Nettie Elizabeth, our grandparents, Moses Henry and Hattie Henry (Pessago).
