Hockey has always been Canada’s game, but the cost to play can be expensive for many families.
The Kruger Big Assist program helps make the game more affordable, accessible and inclusive.
Since 2021, Kruger Products has donated over $600,000 to 40 hockey communities and is now accepting nominations for 2024.
“Money is meant first and foremost to go to registration fees, keeping kids on the ice, to the families who can’t afford to keep their kids playing, or help bring newcomers to Canada into the game,” said Kristina Koprivica, vice-president of marketing for Kruger.
“Hockey’s known to be a game that has a very high barrier, whether that’s registration fees, cost of travel, expensive equipment, so it’s really helping families and kids gain the experience of playing hockey.”
The program will award five hockey associations $25,000 each, providing financial assistance to hockey families in their communities.
Kruger will also give an additional $75,000 grand prize to one of the five winning hockey associations that best demonstrate how they’ll make their programs more accessible, inclusive and equitable for Canadian youth.
Nominations close February 11th. More details on how to register your hockey organization can be found by clicking here.
