Members of Parliament return to the House of Commons in Ottawa today.
The high cost of living will be one of the focuses of the Conservatives.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says during the holiday break he’s been talking to constituents and there is one main topic of conversation.
“What I’ve been hearing here on the ground in our riding, and right across the north, is that people are struggling with the cost of living, whether it’s the increase in the carbon tax, ” says Melillo.
“It’s getting more difficult for small businesses to make ends meet and to get by with their business. People are struggling and Pierre (Poilievre) has been bringing forth solutions go help alleviate that.”
Melillo says the Conservative message seems to be getting through in the north and that’s why his leader Pierre Poilievre has made a couple of trips up here in the past six months
