David Booth King
January 2, 1955 – January 25, 2024

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend David Booth King at the age of 69.

David is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Kimberly (Daniel) Lemmon, son Bryan (Meghan Cranston), his five cherished grandchildren Alexander, Aurora and Ethan King and Sophie and Posey Lemmon. He also leaves siblings Russell (Gloria), Frances (Dale) and Charlie (Marianne), as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father William (Bill) in 2010 and his mother Bonnie Lynn this past October.

David always had a smile and was a social butterfly like no other. Immensely comfortable in his own skin, he thought nothing of dropping in unannounced anywhere for a chat and a tea, coffee or whatever. He was very generous with his time and his knowledge and was the consummate fixer – even when something didn’t need fixing, he would find a way to “improve” it.

He loved the outdoors, and snowmobiling was his passion. He lived for winter and riding, and it didn’t matter how cold the temperature. “You just dress for it” he would say. In the summer he loved to be with his family on the deck at the lake, taking the grandchildren tubing or helping them untangle their miscast fishing lines from the trees.

He cherished his time with his grandchildren and loved to attend their sporting events. For the distant grandchildren, he lived to get videos of Sophie’s swimming competitions and Posey’s horse riding. When all five were here together he adored serving up hotdogs, burgers, chips, cheese, pickles, crackers and “snacks” while ensuring everyone was hydrated and having fun.

David was a beautiful man inside and out with an ability to love completely and unconditionally. He was the most fervent cheerleader for all his family and was open to sharing all their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. His passing has left a gaping hole in our family.

Rest well my love. It’s been an amazing 42 years!

Thank you to the Kenora Paramedics, LOTW Hospital Emergency staff and especially Dr. Jean-Marc Rizk for the excellent care David received and the compassion shown to all of us.

Celebration of life will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating.

For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at https://fweb.tv/117079

Donations in David’s memory to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation or a charity on one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
