Larry Bruce Polischuk
December 1, 1959 – May 26, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Larry announces his passing.
Larry was a lifelong resident of Kenora graduating from Lakewood High School in 1978. During his high school years he took an interest in the music program and became efficient in the playing of the piano, saxophone, tuba, drums, bass guitar, and to his Mom’s delight, the accordion. He was often seen as the backup singer or playing any one of his many instruments as part of numerous bands throughout the region. He requested that his musical equipment be given to the music program at Beaver Brae High School.
Larry became a baker at Kenora Safeway before moving on to become an employee of Boise Cascade Canada in the local pulp and paper mill. Here he became their Graphic Artist in the Graphic Arts department where he grew his many talents. Many will remember his positive work ethic and terrific sense of humor. More than one vehicle around town displayed his bumper sticker which read, “Why have a coffee with Ruth when you can have a beer with me?”
Larry loved the outdoors – hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and quadding. He spent many happy times with family, friends and his best canine friend, JoJo at “Big Andy’s Camp” on Botanist Lake, north of Kenora.
Larry is survived by his Mother Joyce, brothers Jim (Angela) and Rob, niece Laura, nephew Ian and Uncle Tony. He was predeceased by his father Andy, uncles John, Bill and Mike and aunties Olga, Edna, Verna and Mary.
As per Larry’s wishes there will be no service. He has requested that family and friends think of him the next time they catch that “big one” in their favorite fishing spot.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Frank Miclash for his dedication and support throughout this difficult time.
