On Sunday May 26, 2024, at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario, Ruth Marie Moline (nee Tannock), with three of her daughters at her side, peacefully left this world.

Mom’s one true love, our dad Ted, passed away March 30, 2024 and after 68 years of marriage we all believe mom just needed to be with him. We are sure he greeted her at the gates of Heaven with one of his huge bear hugs and ear to ear grins. Also waiting for mom’s arrival were her grandson Mickenzie and great-grandson Ryan, brother Allan and many other family members who have gone before her.

Mom will be missed immensely by her children Cheryle Moline (Ken), David Moline (Darlene), Sandra Fitzer (Brian), Ted Moline Jr. (Candace), Annette Skomoroh (Larry) and Stacy Minnder (Hermann), 14 grandchildren, Amber, Dalanie, Lacey, Camilla, David Jr, Shaun, Kylie, Erin, Hope, Leighton, Jonathan, Deja, Michael and Madison, 29 great-grandchildren, Alysah, Avah, Katie, Owen, Alexi, Lemmy, Maximus, Makayla, Ayden, Merrick, Amara, Keegan, Armani, Kendra, Kaydence, Kayl, Teo, Konnor, Aisling, Benjamin, Russell, Jeremiah, Aspen, Danica, Alexis, Callie-Ann, Stewart and Kazeya and 1 great-great grandchild Haileigh. Sisters-in-law Shirley Wintle and Carole French (Don) and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mom was born on July 14, 1936 to Eva and Fred Hardy in Uxbridge, Ontario and had seven older brothers and one sister. Due to life circumstances mom, who was born Shirley Ann, was adopted at the age of two by John and Anna Tannock, moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and received a new name and a new brother, Allan.

Once mom started working her favourite job was as a switchboard operator for Bell but then she met dad, who was working at the paper mill in Powell River, British Columbia. After a year of dating, they travelled to Dryden, Ontario, dad’s home town and were married January 25, 1956.

Over the next 20 years six children and numerous foster children were welcomed and mom mostly focused on being a stay at home mom and excelled at it. We were all happy, healthy and well loved. Mom was a fantastic crafter, sewer and knitter. She sewed clothing for all her children and grandchildren for years and knit many sweaters, socks, mitts and hats right up until her most recent hospitalization. All of us girls were lucky enough to have her creativity passed on to us.

Mom was one of the biggest cat lovers you could ever meet. Our house was never without at least one and her cats were as loved and cherished as her children.

Mom has left all of us with millions of wonderful memories of love, laughter and adventures. We couldn’t have asked for a better mom, as she always gave one hundred percent to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was our biggest cheerleader, teacher and best friend. We will forever be grateful for all the years we were blessed to have you mom, and we miss you immensely already.
