Update: Dryden councillor offers condolences to Eagle Lake over social post

By News Jun 20, 2024 | 8:52 AM

A Dryden councillor at the heart of controversy over Facebook posts is offering condolences to the Eagle Lake First Nation after a death in the community.

Ritch Noel tells our newsroom he is not commenting further right now, but his posts did catch the attention of Dryden’s mayor and others in the area.

Jack Harrison says Noel’s remarks do not reflect the views of council or the municipality, regardless of intent.

Harrison adds he has spoken with and offered sympathies to the chief of the First Nation.

Motions to address the matter will be presented at the Council meeting on Monday, which include a request to engage the integrity commissioner.

Our newsroom has reached out to Dryden’s mayor and the chief of Eagle Lake First Nation for comment.
