The 57 year old man who was killed at Anicinabe Park this past Tuesday afternoon has been identified as Bruce Frogg.
He was from a remote fly-in community about 350 kilometers north of Sioux Lookout called Wawakapewin.
He had been brandishing two knives in from the park’s office when he was shot by an OPP officer.
Sol Mamakwa is the MPP for Kiiwetinoon says this appears to be another example where a lack of propery mental health support leads to an unnecessary loss of life.
He adds the surrounding First Nations are grieving and heartbroken.
The matter is now under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Special Investigation Unit and Mamakwa says the family deserves a clear and honest explanation of the incident.
