A community pool is one of the options being looked at to improve sports infrastructure in Sioux Lookout.
The town has embarked on a sports tourism strategy.
Economic Development Officer Jennifer Esposito says they are drafting a survey for residents and visitors alike.
“Residents are going to be receiving postcards in the mail over the next few weeks,” states Esposito.
“That survey is going to look at satisfaction with all of our amenities and any gaps that residents are seeing.”
Esposito says the sports tourism strategy will include a feasibility study and costs for a community pool.
“We think it’s really important to conduct this feasibility study in order to come to a conclusion. Probably for about 30 years residents have been petitioning council for a community pool and last year there was a very compelling delegation.”
She says the town will also be hosting a virtual open house on July 18th to get feedback from community members.
The study is being funded through a grant from FedNor.
