Amid a province-wide liquor store workers strike, the provincial government points out where alcohol, beer and wine are still being sold.
It has released a highly detailed online map, pointing out the location of more than 1,000 LCBO agency stores, breweries, wineries, wine shops and distilleries.
Retail outlets permitted to sell beer and wine are also on the map.
“This new map is a great way to connect people across the province to local Ontario-made products and support the hundreds of Ontario businesses and thousands of Ontario workers who make these products and serve customers each and every day,” states Premier Doug Ford in a release.
Additional sites are to be included when alcohol sales are expanded later this year to more licensed grocery and convenience stores.
Ford announced the expansion in May, one year ahead of a previous proposal.
Over time, as many as 8,500 locations will be available for consumers to purchase alcohol.
Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union have made that expansion a key issue in their contract dispute with their employer.
The union supports the opening of more LCBO-operated stores.
Pickets went up around LCBO stores last Friday.
In an offer to the union, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario commits to keeping stores open and having more part-time staff become full-time employees.
The LCBO stores are not listed in the online map but are to be placed when the strike comes to an end.
