Fairly significant drainage issues are going to be addressed at the Red Lake Madsen School.
The Keewatin Patricia District School Board has awarded a contract for almost $2.3 million for the project.
Assistant manager of Facility Planning and Development Steve Parker says they are trying to address a problem that’s existed for years.
“Most of this project is focused on civil drainage and drainage improvements,” Parker told KPDSB trustees at a special meeting last week.
“We do have most of our northern overland flow of water, coming through the building, through the crawl space, the basement and around the facility.”
Parker told trustees that with all the add-ons, the project will come in at almost $3 million.
“We’ve attempted to address that over the years, but this will certainly improve those conditions. There is major infrastructure going in through the north and around to the east and west areas. Again, a sub-drainage program.”
Parker adds the project will also include improving accessibility at the school and adding some playground equipment.
