Marilyn Sinclair, age 59, passed away on July 7th, 2024 in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital surrounded by her children, family and friends.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, David and Marie Sinclair; sister Shirley Sinclair and brother Felix Land. She is survived by her loving children Vincent (Larissa) and Toni (Jeff), her grandchildren Aeris, who she called her little shadow, Emma (Brady), Matteo and baby Naabe. Her brothers Jimmy (Judy), Jerry (Tarra), Randy (Maryanne), Patrick (Margaret), loving Auntie Lydia (Richard). There are countless aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that Marilyn loved and held very close to her heart.

Marilyn completed her Bachelor’s of Social work through Laurentian University in 2012 with Honour’s.

She held the position of indigenous guidance counsellor at TA Highschool for 22 years. During her tenure, she was loved by staff, students, family, and community members. She was a team member on many committees to help all students. Some of these included First Nations, Metis and Inuit council, student success, graduation committee, CoOp/OYAP support and many more. Her smiles and laughter in the hallways, classrooms will never be forgotten.

She lived in Washagamis Bay all her life. In the year of 2017, she became Chief and served 2 terms. She would always be ready to help her community and the members, no matter what time of day it was.
She held many leadership roles in the community, apart from being Chief, she was the board chair for AAFS, Co-chair for the All Nations Hospital development, Washagamis Bay Community Land Claims Advisor, and a part of the Economic Development Committee for GCT#3.

Marilyn enjoyed playing sports. She was an avid golfer and traveler. Her favourite things to do was spend time with her grand-children, close friends, trying her luck at casinos, and held family get togethers at her home. She also enjoyed fishing, watching her tv shows, and shopping.

Traditional wake will be held on July 12th, 2024 beginning at 3:00 pm at followed by funeral on Saturday July 13th, 2024 starting at 10:00am at Washagamis Bay Community Hall. There will be traditional ceremony on Friday night at 8:00pm. All friends and family are encouraged to attend.
