Dryden receiving NOHFC funding for Memorial Arena

The City of Dryden is getting $240,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for renovations at the Memorial Arena.

CAO of the city Roger Nesbitt, after having to seek a new tender late last year, work is finally coming to an end.

“Things are going well with the expansion project at this point…back on track,” Nesbitt told Dryden city council in a report earlier this week.

“Our general contractor is speeding towards finishing up the project.  So, we expect substantial completion next month.  The facility should be fully open for this coming ice season.”

Renovations include the installation of dehumidifiers and emergency exits, updated heating and circulation systems, as well as skate-resistant flooring in communal spaces.

This is the final phase of Dryden’s infrastructure plan to address major mechanical issues and to expand the facility.

Community Services manager Jason Boyer says they plan to put in ice starting in August and have it ready for rentals by August 19th.
