The City of Dryden has updated its facilities allocation policy.
It used to be the Ice Allocation Policy and, but it’s been revised to include all their recreation facilities like ball diamonds and soccer fields.
Community Services Manager Jason Boyer says there are a couple of changes, including ice cancellations.
“In the past it’s been seven days…the department hasn’t always held firm with that,” Boyers told city council at the open meeting this week.
“What I’ve also expressed to the user groups, is that I need to put more of the onus you guys to properly utilize the ice time you say you are taking.”
Boyer says now user groups have to give at least 30 days’ notice if they don’t plan to use their allocated ice time.
He adds that one of the other changes makes his department the number one user of the facilities.
“I think it should be up to the department first. We want to be able to put in public skating, on let’s say on Saturday afternoons. Before, all the other user groups got to choose all their times first, and what was happening was public skating was put in at unreasonable times.”
Boyer says the allocation policy hadn’t been updated since 2007.
