Jets Alumni coming to town

The Winnipeg Jets alumni hockey team is coming to Kenora.

Their visit is being sponsored by Triple Play.

Barry Reynard is coordinating the hockey game but says there will be other events in conjunction to their visit.

“We are going into our home for the aged,” states Reynard.

“We’re quite excited to take that visit and one being for sure Pinecrest.  As we all know, one of the favorite fans of the Jets was Kroppy.  We’re going to represent Len, and fly the flag for Len that day, making sure we take that memory and not forget about it.”

The actual hockey game will take place on October 5th and will feature the Winnipeg Jets alumni and other Manitoban NHL players.

“A great partnership.  We’ve been working with Ray Neufeld from the Jets for the last six months actually to pull it altogether and it’s a great partnership and collaboration with both our high school programs as well and a lot of community events planned as we move forward.”

They’ll play against alumni from both the girls and boys high school hockey teams.

Proceeds from the game will be split with both St. Thomas Aquinas and Beaver Brae high schools and an endowment fund for Triple Play at the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation.

Tickets are available for the game at the Discovery Center and the Moncrief United Sports Center.
