Ramsey was in born in Kenora Ontario, he spent most of his life living in Shoal Lake 40, he spent some of his early and teen years in Winnipeg, Kenora and Timmins. Ramsey was always very active and involved with sports. His favorite sport to play was hockey. He played in various leagues in Kenora. Ramsey was big for his age when he was younger, one year when we moved to Timmins he made the AAA Peewees hockey team. During practice the coach decided he was too big for the boys on his team, so they drafted him up to AA Bantams. Ramsey made friends with everyone he came across, he has many, many buddies across Canada.

Ramsey’s greatest purpose was being a father to his children Bryson and Jessie. He adored them both so much, they were his whole world. He enjoyed taking them to pow-wows where he would watch them dance all day. They loved camping out together at the local pow-wow every summer. Ramsey was so happy both of his kids loved playing hockey and skating at our arena. He was excited when both were enrolled into Karate. Ramsey was also a very proud uncle. He loved all his nephews and nieces so much.
He was also very excited to be a great uncle (papa), he had plans to be the one to name him or her.
One of Ramseys passions was cooking. He was very proud of himself when he got a full-time job as the school’s chef. He was always helping out in the kitchen whenever there were community events. He was one of the best Bannock makers around. He had goals of becoming a certified chef.

Ramsey also really enjoyed fishing. Whether it was during the summer or winter months he would always be out there catching walleye. Ramsey had a lot of fun fishing with family and would always get a bet going, he would sit in the cold blizzard not even dressed for the weather, determined to catch the biggest fish. Few months ago, he bought his first boat, he was so proud of himself. He loved that he can just jump in his boat and go fishing with his family, he would stay out there for hours.

The day before Ramsey passed, he made sure his family was stocked up on groceries. He took his brother and daughter out fishing, where they stayed out till sunset. He had supper with his family and sang his favorite songs on the Karaoke. Ramsey was such a humorous and loving person. He always made sure everyone around him was taken care of, even in the hospital he was always worried about his buddies. That’s the kind of person Ramsey was, he had a heart of gold. He will be missed dearly by so many.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Shoal Lake 40’s Chief and Council, Medical staff and Anishinaabe Miikana Crisis team. Mandamin’s Store, Point Variety Store. Kenora Chiefs Advisory, WNHAC, Dr. Weibe and Dr. Kyle for their continuous medical care provided to Ramsey over the past few months. A special thanks to Kari-Anne Kitt for the support she offered to Ramsey and the whole family.
