If you are interested in paranormal phenomena then you are in luck.

A paranormal convention is coming to the region.

LuckyParanormal a group from Thunder Bay that likes to attend paranormal conventions is organizing and bringing one to the region.

The Lake Superior Paranormal Convention or Paracon, is set to be held in Thunder Bay.

“We started a group called Lucky Paranormal a few years ago and we were going to paracons (Paranormal Conventions) and then Gail’s (Gail Willis fellow co-organizer) like, well, why isn’t there any in Canada,” said Co-organizer Mel Willis.  “I’m going to start one, and so it was about a year ago we started and we started asking certain people if they wanted to come for our Paracon, and then people were saying yes and we were like oh, this is going to be a thing and it kind of snowballed.”

Mel Willis is local to the region, and Gail Willis is from southern Ontario, and they were both travelling significant distances to enjoy one of their passions.

They explained there was no local option to attend leading to the creation of northwestern Ontario’s first Paracon, “If you want to stay in Canada, you’d have to go to Halifax,” explained Willis. “If you want to go to the states, you can go to Minnesota, Michigan, they have a couple down there, but sort of in the southern end of Michigan though it would take you at least eight hours.”

The event will have ghost stories, paranormal investigation, educational sessions, guest speakers, and a live psychic gallery reading is being held.

“It’s going to be educational, it’s about getting to know each other and building relationships with other people who have similar interests,” explained Mel Willis.

“Yeah, it is really about building a community because everyone that we’ve talked to over the times that we’ve been talking about ghosts has a ghost story, everyone has a ghost story,” added Gail Willis.

The event is running from October 4-6, at various locations across Thunder Bay with the main event taking place at The Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel.
